JengaBio Forge

Revolutionizing Steelmaking & Energy

JengaBio Forge is a product designed as a direct substitute for anthracite in steelmaking operations, and it also serves as a carbon negative fuel for power generation. Its purpose is to transform and revolutionize two key sectors in steelmaking and energy generation.
After eight years of research and continuous customer testing, Phambili Energy achieved a transformative milestone. We successfully concluded trials with a global steel maker. Their subsequent approval for replacing anthracite with JengaBio Forge marks a breakthrough in industrial decarbonization. JengaBio Forge offered a cleaner, more efficient solution that positively impacted lead time, downtime, and overall maintenance.
Validated Performance Areas:
Friability with a low fines generation
Decrepitation susceptibility with a low minus ten mesh fines generation
Reactivity with a mass loss profile similar to anthracite generation

JengaBio Fusion

Intelligent Root Zone Technology

Our bulk packed JengaBio fusion is more than just biochar. It is a root zone technology that transforms every granule into an intelligent farming system by embedding essential trace elements, beneficial flavonoids, and microbial habitats into the carbon lattice.

The JengaBio Fusion Nutreebag

Consider the JengaBio Fusion Nutreebag, an expansion of this innovation. It is a small, pre-measured biochar/organic fertiliser mix designed to fit into a satchet that looks like a tea bag.
It comes in varying sizes with clear volume instructions for various seeds or saplings, eliminating complexity. The JengaBio Nutreebag slowly releases vital nutrients, expertly holds moisture, and concentrates beneficial microbes at the root, where it is needed.

R&D: Expanding the Horizon of the Green Conversion Economy

At Phambili, our Research & Development program is the engine driving our Green Conversion Economy (GCE). We are currently expanding our proprietary Biomass Conversion Technology (BCT) to process a wider range of complex feedstocks.
Phambili Energy’s R&D program is a rigorous, science driven effort to validate and scale technologies that convert diverse waste streams into high value, traceable bio products. We optimise BCT pyrolysis and a purpose built fractionation train to prove that agricultural, industrial, and municipal residues are reliable feedstocks—not liabilities. Our work focuses on technical validation, product performance, and measurable environmental outcomes rather than purely financial feasibility.

Core Research Areas & Future Biomass Lines

We are actively testing and validating the following feedstock lines to maximize resource efficiency and product output.

a) Agricultural Waste & Crop Residues

The Challenge: Millions of tons of agricultural waste (rice straw, wheat straw, bagasse, hemp, corn stover) are burned or left to rot, releasing methane and Co2
R&D Focus: Optimizing BCT settings to handle varying moisture contents (10% - 60%) across different crop residues, including hemp, sugarcane, and orchard waste (avocado, almond, apple).
Target Outcomes: High-yield production of biochar for soil rejuvenation and extraction of valuable bio-oils for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and green chemicals.

b) Livestock Manure Solutions

The Challenge: The meat and dairy industries are major contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, particularly methane.
R&D Focus: Phambili Energy is advancing an R&D program to convert dairy and livestock manure into stable biochar and to recover plant available NPK nutrients, then integrate both into the Jenga Bio Fusion product to deliver a nutrient infused, carbon stable soil amendment. The goal is a traceable, high performance SKU that improves soil health, sequesters carbon, and returns measurable agronomic value to farmers.
Target Outcomes: A carbon-negative operation for livestock farms. By feeding biochar back to livestock (reducing enteric methane by ~22%) and sequestering carbon in the soil, we aim to achieve a 187% carbon emission reduction through combined CCS and offset credits.

c) End-of-Life Tires (ELT)

The Challenge: 2 billion waste tires are discarded annually, posing severe fire and environmental toxicity risks.
R&D Focus: A concurrent processing model that recovers valuable materials without incineration.
Target Outcomes: Recovery of Carbon Black, Pyrolytic Graphite, and Blend-Stock Oils. We are also validating the production of "Green Steel" (recovered from tire wire) and high-calorific gas for power generation, turning a toxic hazard into a clean energy source.

d) Municipal Solid Waste (MSW)

The Challenge: Global MSW is projected to reach 2.8 billion tons by 2050.
R&D Focus: Refining pre-processing technologies (sorting, sanitizing, pelletizing) to create a uniform feedstock from heterogeneous urban waste.
Target Outcomes: Diverting waste from landfills to produce renewable diesel, electricity, and over 500 green products, effectively closing the loop on the circular economy.

Technical Innovation: The "Phambili BCT" Standard

Our R&D team is finalizing the specifications for the next generation of conversion units, the Phambili 5.0.

Modular Design

Utilizing ten 40-foot shipping containers for a scalable footprint of approx. 27,200 sq. ft.

Innovative Fractionation

Phambili Energy pairs its modular BCT reactors with a purpose built fractionation train to extract and stabilise high value molecules directly at source. This expands the Jenga Bio Suite into discrete, market ready SKUs.

Efficiency Metrics

Testing new activation techniques to increase surface area for faster thermal reactions, ensuring the process remains energy neutral and carbon negative.

Impact & Feasibility Analysis

Our R&D goes beyond the lab. We are conducting deep-dive feasibility studies to ensure market viability:

Carbon Sequestration

Validating the capability to sequester up to 3 tons of CO2 per ton of biochar produced.

Product Validation

Phambili Energy is conducting a comprehensive testing program at Donnybrook to validate and scale the Jenga Bio Suite. The program covers 68 distinct SKUs across liquids, solids, granules, pellets and binders, plus 8 biomass based biochar specimens for agronomic, environmental and commercial performance evaluation. The goal is to convert pilot outputs into certified, market ready products with traceable quality and clear use cases.

Economic Modelling

Establishing robust ROI models for potential partners, targeting high internal rates of return (IRR) through diversified revenue streams (biochar, carbon credits, energy, and chemical sales).

Partner with Phambili R&D

We are constantly seeking partners to supply 30+ tons of organic biomass waste per day for pilot testing and full-scale implementation. Join us in advancing the science of sustainability.
